Remuera Renovation Auckland

Extension and Interior renovation

The Brief and Arrival Sequence

This Remuera renovation focused on resolving a disjointed entry sequence and expanding the private quarters at the rear of the property. The original site layout suffered from an awkward entry arrangement and an outdated carport that compromised the home’s street presence. The brief required a new garaging solution and a defined entranceway that would seamlessly connect the new additions to the existing character home, creating a clear, welcoming sense of arrival.

Architectural Alignment and Extension

Our design response replaces the carport with a secure garage, using structural lines that respect the proportions of the original home. We established a new, deliberate entry axis that guides visitors naturally into the home. At the rear, the footprint was extended to accommodate a spacious new master bedroom suite and ensuite. This addition was oriented to maximize natural light and maintain privacy from neighboring properties, serving as a quiet, private wing away from the main living areas.

Craftsmanship and Interior Integration

Interior continuity was a priority throughout the alteration. Working in close collaboration with the client’s independent cabinetmakers, custom bespoke cabinetry was integrated throughout the entire home. This unified approach to the interior architecture ensures that the transition from the existing home to the modern extension feels intentional, cohesive, and highly refined.
